Comic-Grading nennt man das Verfahren zur Feststellung des Zustandes eines Comics. Alles beginnt mit der persönlichen Übergabe oder dem Versand der Comics an den Grading-Service. Nach Eingang werden die Comics erfasst und dem Gradingprozess zugeführt. Dabei werden die Comics von insgesamt 3 Gradern begutachtet. Wenn die Zustandsbewertung aller drei übereinstimmt, ist die Bewertung fix. Sollte es unterschiedliche Einschätzungen geben wird nochmal kontrolliert und gegebenenfalls im Team die Bewertung besprochen. Nach der Bewertung wird das Comic verkapselt, um so den Zustand dauerhaft sicherzustellen, ein Lesen des Comics ist dann nicht mehr möglich. Ist auch dieser Vorgang abgeschlossen, dann bekommt der Auftraggeber seine Comics zugesandt.

Es gibt momentan 4 Firmen, die sich mit dem professionellen Graden beschäftigen.
